1) HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO GO?
- How long you receive care is entirely up to you. There are basically three types of care available: Relief, Reconstruction and Maintenance care.
Relief care is just what it sounds like. A person comes in with a particular pain or symptom and is treated for a very short time until the pain or symptom is gone. This usually occurs within one to two weeks.
Reconstruction care is more like orthodontics or putting braces on teeth. Braces stay on for two to three years, to slowly move teeth back to their original position, then a retainer is used to keep them there once the braces are removed. With Chiropractic care, a person would be seen two to three times per week for usually three to six months. This allows us to set the vertebrae in place over a length of time necessary to get ligaments and supporting muscles strengthened enough to stabilize the initial weakness. We then see the person one time a week for a few months to stabilize area, much like retainers do.
Maintenance care is a periodic adjustment to maintain a person at whatever level of health they are presently at. Frequency of maintenance care can go from one time per week to once every two months depending on lifestyle and work habits.

2) HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We accept most insurance’s which cover chiropractic care. For those with no coverage we have various payment plans and programs that are very workable. Our regular office visit is $40. If you pay at the time of service, it is $30. |

3) WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?
Chiropractic is the largest natural primary health care profession in the world. It is the fastest growing healthcare choice offering a noninvasive, non-drug alternative to the healthcare problems we face today. Between 25 - 60 million Americans utilize chiropractic care every year. Chiropractors are licensed in every state and more than 65,000 doctors of chiropractic practice around the world. Chiropractors rate high patient satisfaction, with almost 75% of patients claiming high satisfaction and about 25% claiming some satisfaction.
Based on the premise that the body is self healing and self regulating, chiropractic is rooted in the philosophy that the body has an innate ability to promote and maintain internal healing and ongoing wellness. It is a science that deals with the relationship between the nervous system and the spinal column and the role this relationship plays with the restoration and maintenance of health. The art of chiropractic is the reduction of the impact that interference can place on the nervous system. There is a significant body of clinical studies and research that documents its effectiveness for promoting health and wellness. |

4) HOW THE BODY WORKS?
The body acts as a phenomenal computer like no other. The brain communicates with the body through the nervous system, processing hundreds of thousands of bits of information every second continuously every day. When there is no interference in this system, all is well. The body self-regulates itself by adjusting hormone levels, temperature, blood pressure, heart beat, respiration and numerous other functions. It is self healing, knowing exactly what to do in cases of emergency or times of stress when there is no interference. |
 |
5) WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM?
The brain communicates with the body through the nervous system. The nervous system is what controls all cells, tissues and organs in your body. The brain communicates with your body through the spinal cord which is connected to 31 pairs of spinal nerves with one pair exiting between each vertebra of your spine. The vertebrae act as protection to the delicate spinal cord and nerve roots that make up this communication pathway. Without the nervous system your body does not function. |
 |
6) WHAT IS A VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION?
An interference with the nervous system can occur when you have a spinal misalignment referred to as a vertebral subluxation. When a subluxation is present, it interferes with this communication and the body cannot maintain its innate (inborn) ability to stay healthy. What happens when a subluxation interferes with the nervous system, preventing the brain from effectively communicating with the body or the body from effectively communicating with the brain? The organ or tissue supplied by the nerve being interfered with cannot function normally. Think of your nervous system acting as telephone line and picture. You get static in the line and cannot communicate effectively and may even be cut off from the other person. This analogy is quite simple, but allows you to see what happens when the nerve cannot conduct as it should, leading to eventual disease, like being cut off from the rest of the body. |
 |
7) CAN I TELL IF I HAVE A VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION?
No, only a chiropractor can tell if you have subluxations. Finding and correcting subluxations is what they are trained to do. Most people think that if they have no symptoms they are healthy and don't have subluxations. This is not necessarily true. Unless someone has been in a recent accident or has had a recent trauma, subluxations may take years to manifest symptoms. We can even tell about how long a person has had a subluxation from taking a look at an x-ray of their spine. People often associate a lack of symptoms or pain as a sign of health, but we all know that many diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, many others, and even tooth decay are in progress long before we exhibit symptoms. |

8) HOW DOES CHIROPRACTIC WORK?
Spinal manipulation dates back ages ago practiced in one form or another in most cultures. Even Hypocrites said, "Look to the spine as the cause of disease". Chiropractors do not merely manipulate the spine. What sets chiropractors apart is that they locate misaligned vertebra and realign them with a specific movement called an adjustment. Once the interference (subluxation) is removed, your body has the ability to return to normal function which restores health. By improving nervous system function, your doctor of chiropractic helps your body restore normal health and helps your body fight disease. Chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe with an estimated risk factor in excess of one million to one.
Chiropractic is based on the concept that the body has an innate wisdom to regulate and heal itself, that each of us is born to be healthy, and that practicing lifestyles which encourage adequate diet, exercise, rest, and a properly functioning nervous system will maintain health. Chiropractic philosophy has always stated that health comes from the inside out, not the outside in (as when taking medicine to make you feel better).
Many years ago B. J. Palmer, the developer of chiropractic said, "There is no effect without a cause. Chiropractors adjust causes. Others treat effects." He also said, "In the future, chiropractic will be valued for its preventive qualities as much as for relieving and adjusting the cause of ailments." More and more scientific research is documenting what chiropractic has been saying for the past 100 years. The research is showing that interference with the nervous system causes disease and that subluxations of the spine are related to organ pathology, meaning that disorders that occur from spinal interference are not limited to musculoskeletal problems, but include disorders of the organs as well. Correcting spinal subluxations through chiropractic adjustments gives you a better functioning nervous system and a better functioning nervous system prevents disease and helps maintain a healthy

9) WHAT CONDUTIONS CAN BE HELPED?
We accept all cases regardless of condition. Because we do not treat specific conditions but rather restore our bodies’ inborn ability to heal and control itself, we are able to help turn the power back on to organs, tissues and immune system that were weak and not functioning. We regularly see people with even terrible conditions such as MS, diabetes, cancer and arthritis benefit from chiropractic care. |
 |
10) HOW IS YOUR PROGRESS MONITORED?
Because we are concerned with making sure that all of your systems are functioning at 100%, we do not monitor your progress by how you feel. Feeling good is important but BEING good is vital! We monitor your progress through state of the art methods like surface EMG, which can read electrical impulses passing through muscles. We use infrared scanning which reads a different part of your nervous system. We regularly measure ranges of motion, balance scales, muscle strength and physical findings regularly. |

11) WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN OFFICE VISIT?
Your first visit will include a case history, review of your past health, family health, exam and x-rays if indicated. This visit lasts about 45 minutes. Your second visit will include your first adjustment and a brief explanation of your condition. This usually last a total of about 15 minutes. Visits after that will usually last 10 to 25 minutes, depending on how much in-office reconditioning you require. Once your condition is identified, the actual adjustment does not take long. You will be completely re-evaluated every 12 th visit if you choose reconstructive care.
You will also be required to attend a Doctor’s Report within the first week or two of care. This is a one hour session set aside for you and your significant other to completely explain your condition, explain how long it would take if you choose reconstruction, cost of reconstruction as well as home care. |
 |
12) AT WHAT AGE IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE BEST STARTED?
Without question, the earlier the better. We see many children in our office for many reasons. Children diagnosed with asthma, ADD/ADHD, nervous tics, fibromyalgia and headaches to name a few. Most children are seen to remove interferences which would not allow them to grow and develop to reach their highest potential.
Chiropractic is a cradle to grave form of care. Once your nervous system is running at 100%, periodic checkups are necessary to ensure a lifetime of optimal health. |
